West Seattle is of the first settlements in Seattle. It was first settled by the Denny Party at Alki Beach in 1851. As the PNW industry took off, development along the Elliott Bay waterfront picked up. The area was not formally a city until 1902. The area eventually merged with Seattle. Today this community is known for it’s laid back culture and plentiful main strip.
