Neighborhood

Roosevelt is a north Seattle neighborhood. Roosevelt offers residents a surban (urban leaning) lifestyle. The neighborhood received the name Roosevelt as the result of a Community Club contest held in 1927. This was largely inspired by Theodore Roosevelt’s trip to the PNW where he visited the community on his historic conversation movement tour. Through the 1920s, the neighborhood continued to grow and Sears opened a store on 65th St. The site is now home to the Roosevelt Square shopping center that includes Whole Foods. As the University of Washington grew and expanded, the neighborhood became home to university-connected individuals and families. The neighborhood has flourished with addition restaurants and amenities over the years. The public schools in Roosevelt are highly rated with Roosevelt High School ranking 17/332 for best public schools in Washington state on Niche.com. In Roosevelt there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. It’s no wonder the neighborhood receives an A+ rating on Niche.com.
